Photos Photiades Breweries was officially formed as a company in 1963 and was also the owner of the oldest brewery in Cyprus, the Leon Brewery since 1937. In 1968 the Company was granted the license to produce Carlsberg beer in Cyprus, which made Cyprus the first ever country to produce Carlsberg outside Denmark. Since 1998 the company also caters for the Greek market. In the past 40 years, the Company has produced Carlsberg beer with great success and has led it to be the leading beer in Cyprus with over 53% market share. Photos Photiades Breweries prides itself on its dedication to quality and in 1997 was granted the Golden Words Award from Carlsberg Copenhagen as the Best International Brewery. In 2000, it also invested in a new modern Brewery which uses the latest technology and brewing techniques. In 2002 and to satisfy market needs, the company re-launched the traditional Leon Beer in the Cypriot market using the traditional recipe and aroma of the late 1930s. In addition, the company is the oldest bottled water manufacturer since 1961, and currently has a water bottling plant in the Troodos Mountains in Agros since 1991. Agros Natural Mineral water, Vitalia Natural Spring Water and Blu Sparking Mountain Water are all produced by the company and are leaders in their category in Cyprus.
